Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. Emma's screen debut came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in the year 2001. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performances of its three new stars. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance.
