Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. When she was six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons for acting, singing and dance. At the age of 10, Emma had taken part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for first time in 1999. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. After eight auditions consistently, director David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's screen debut came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in the year 2001. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie of the year 2001. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performances of its three new stars. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma later won five awards for her performance in the movie.
